We are a family of nine - Dad, Mom, four children, two Australian Labradoodles, and one Calico cat. Our dogs are first and foremost our beloved pets. We do not breed for business, but for a rewarding and exciting experience filled with life lessons for our children. We hold to the highest breeding standards, and we work together to ensure that every puppy is happy, healthy, and well-socialized. Our dogs have allergy-friendly coats (low to non-shedding), excellent temperaments, and are born from health-tested parents. We offer a two-year genetic health warranty and provide continued support to our puppy owners, including advice on training and nutrition. Banner Doodles has a three-star accreditation by the Worldwide Australian Labradoodle Association.
A Labradoodle is a cross between a Standard Poodle and a Labrador Retriever, but the Australian Labradoodle is different from all other Labradoodles. The Australian Labradoodle is a multi-generational mix of a Standard Poodle, Labrador Retriever, English Cocker Spaniel, American Cocker Spaniel, and Irish Water Spaniel.
In the late 1980s, Tegan Park and Rutland Manor, the two founders of the Australian Labradoodle as we know it today, began carefully infusing several other breeds into early generations of their Lab/Poodle crosses to improve temperament, coat, conformation, and size. The resulting Labradoodles subsequently have been bred to each other, continuing the multi-generational tradition. Today, Australian Labradoodles are wonderful, intelligent dogs with lush coats that are more reliably low to non-shedding and allergy-friendly than other types of Labradoodles, such as first generation Lab/Poodle crosses or first generation crosses bred back to Poodles.
Even when the other types of Labradoodles are bred on for generations, the result is not an Australian Labradoodle, as the attributes of the infused breeds were not included in their ancestry. The Worldwide Australian Labradoodle Association, the Australian Labradoodle Association of America, and the Australian Labradoodle Club of America were founded to foster and protect the original Australian Labradoodles that have come directly from Tegan Park and Rutland Manor breeding stock, or their offspring. The organizations' mission is to maintain and improve the quality and soundness of the Australian Labradoodle, and to thoroughly monitor the further development of the breed. All member breeders are carefully screened to help ensure the future of the Australian Labradoodle.
When a Standard Poodle and Labrador Retriever are bred, the dog's coat may or may not be allergy-friendly. Our son is allergic to first generation Labradoodles but not to multi-generational Australian Labradoodles. When allergies and shedding are concerns, an Australian Labradoodle is the best choice.
